Hiking trails - Nordkette
Tall or short, young or old, there is something for every hiker at the Nordkette. From short, flat circular hiking trails to longer tours from the Hungerburg into the Karwendel Nature Park, here you will find hikes and walks for every level of ability.
The journey is the reward
The Nordkette is the perfect starting point for a variety of hikes and walks . For example, the short ascent from the Hafelekar station to the Hafelekar peak, the panorama circular trail at the Seegrube or longer expeditions such as hiking into the Karwendel Nature Park via The Goethe Trail. There is something for all hikers and walkers at the Nordkette.
In addition to the high-alpine hiking options from the Seegrube and Hafelekar stations, there are also many hiking possibilities below the tree line, starting from the Hungerburg station. From here, several different alpine pastures can be reached with hikes taking between 45 minutes and 1 ½ hours.

Naturepark Karwendel
With an area covering 727 square kilometres, the Karwendel Nature Park encompasses almost the whole Karwendel mountain range. It is the largest protected region in the Tyrol and Austria’s largest Nature Park.
Hiking
The Nordkette is the perfect starting point for a variety of hikes and walks. For example, the short ascent from the Hafelekar station to the Hafelekar peak, the panorama circular trail at the Seegrube or longer expeditions such as hiking into the Karwendel Nature Park via The Goethe Trail. There is something for all hikers and walkers at the Nordkette.
Climbing Arena
It takes about 20 minutes to get from the Seegrube Station to the Nordkette Climbing Arena. There are approximately 40 tours which are mainly single-rope routes at the UIAA difficulty levels 4 – 9, which means they are suitable for both beginner and advanced-level climbers.
